Weekly Photo Challenge: Escape

“The whole value of solitude depends upon oneself; it may be a sanctuary or a prison, a haven of repose or a place of punishment, a heaven or a hell, as we ourselves make it.”
―    John Lubbock .

Solitude may be an escape. Or not. I have many images that I feel would fit this theme but this one came to mind first when I read The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge for this week. I made this image from a solitary confinement cell during a tour of Alcatraz prison. Not a place that lends itself to escape. Or at least not during the days of its operation.
